Now this is something many of you out there wouldn’t have predicted to happen. The very dependable Wall Street Journal reports that Apple has cut down the orders of the gigantic iPhone 5 components. Why you ask? Well, it seems that the popularity and iPhone 5 demand has fallen down considerably due to which Tim cook and co have supposedly taken this action.

Here is the part which is causing all sorts of sensation or shock depending on the side you belong to:

Apple Inc. AAPL -0.61% has cut its orders for components for the iPhone 5 due to weaker-than-expected demand, people familiar with the situation said Monday.

Apple’s orders for iPhone 5 screens for the January-March quarter, for example, have dropped to roughly half of what the company had previously planned to order, two of the people said.

I sort of had a feeling this might happen because the tallest thing to happen to iPhone since iPhone isn’t something that will make a strong stance in the increasingly dominating smartphone market. I mean, on one end we have phones like HTC 8X, Nokia Lumia 920, Samsung Galaxy S3 who are standing tall and different among the crowd and giving something new and exciting to the consumer. On the other end, we have iPhone 5, which looks the same sans a bigger screen and a thinner design. Big game changer? I don’t think so. What do you reckon?
